It’s Not Used, It’s Antique!
I am always looking for ways to reduce the amount of waste we create as a family and personally. One way that I don’t use to it’s full capacity is to reuse items. This all changed when I went to the consignment store down the street looking for one of those plastic slides for Jack. While I was there I started browsing through the beautifully organized racks of designer clothes. I was amazed at what I found. Abercrombie and Fitch, Gap, Ralph Lauren and other labels all for about $3.00. These clothes looked hardly worn and my kids went nuts when I came home with huge bags of clothes for each of them.
In addition to your local consignor, there are also Consignment Events like Rhea Lana. If you are here in Atlanta, they will be holding one of their renowned consignment events August 18-21st. Jack’s Harvest will be there sampling some baby food and of course, I’ll be SHOPPING! Stay tuned as we will be giving away 8 passes to the event.
I also was talking to my neighbor who refinished and repurposes antiques into true works of art. I guess I never really thought of antiques or older furniture as ‘green.’ It makes great sense though, no new wood is cut down, there is no manufacturing waste, the piece exists and instead of going to the landfill it can be refurbished/repurposed into a unique and beautiful piece for your home.
